Canada Day Evening Celebration
in Edmonton’s Heritage Chinatown
Street Market and Cultural Performances
When: July 1st, Tuesday, 4pm-9pm (rain or shine) Opening Ceremony 4:30 pm with lion dance and speeches
Where: In front of the Edmonton Chinatown Multicultural Centre, 9540-102 Avenue
Performance will include Lion Dances, Martial
Arts Demonstration, Drumming, Traditional
Dances and Choral Singing by the The Chinese
Freemasons Society of Edmonton, Chinese
Dramatic Club of Edmonton, Hong De Cultural &
Athletic Association, Jing Ying Martial Arts
Association, Shang De Tai Chi Praying Mantis
Martial Arts, Edmonton Chinese Choir,
Edmonton Chinese Cultural Heritage Society,
Xiao Hao Ou Dancing Group, Maple Arts Society
and Oriental Cultural Community Service Centre.
Food will include food trucks and a community BBQ. There will also be original “I Heart Chinatown” t‐shirts for sale.
Mei Hung, Chair of the Chinese Benevolent Association, says: “This night market is a way to bring together the Chinese community, in all its diversity, and also to invite non‐Chinese people to celebrate with us, in the heart of our community”.
